Lean In: Volume 3 - ‘Closing the gap between the African diaspora and Finnish-Africa strategy: A workshop for concrete action.'

Last week, Remode and Think Africa organised Lean In Volume 3: ‘Closing the gap between the African diaspora and Finnish-Africa strategy: A workshop for concrete action.'

This was our first in-person session and what made it even more special was the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Business Finland, Finnpartnership, and African diaspora led organisations and companies.

Competent African diaspora are an integral part to a more successful implementation of the Finland-Africa strategy and the 4-hour program was focused on presentations from the Ministry and institutions and, for the first time, a united voice from the African diaspora.

The presentations revolved around understanding what and how each entity worked, the problems encountered in working together and examples of successful partnerships.

Lastly, an open space workshop run by Remode’s Oki Tåg was instrumental in highlighting the most important topics and discussing how to follow through.

Two of the key outcomes were: The potential of an entity/think tank that brings together representatives from the African diaspora; and the entity tasked to come up with concrete actions for diaspora engagement in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Lean In event series is an initiative that brings together members of the diaspora and other stakeholders in the Nordic-Africa business space to have discussions and show concrete actions that move us towards impactful solutions that scale.

We are grateful to Springboard, Laaru Consulting, Apple Blossom, Hills Connect, Bosita Consulting for being part of this whole process and forward to a more united and impactful African Diaspora.

We will be back in January for more details on how we continue.

Too impatient? Contact us, we’re always happy to talk!
