What is the biggest surprise from your Remode journey so far?
“I have always thought that so much of the world’s problems could be solved if we valued and respected each other a bit more regardless of origins. But the Remode journey has sort of intensified that belief to a level that is quite surprising, to be honest. When we share ideas and take on big subjects, the passion and mutual respect that ensue is palpable, but sadly in short supply in larger facets of the real world. It is still early days on the Remode journey and I hope for more pleasant surprises as we walk this path with our amazing partners from Kenya and the Nordics.” 🌍

Would you recommend Remode as a personal growth experience?
“That's an easy one - yes. The truth is regardless of how grounded one is in one’s field, which in our case is creativity and storytelling, external cultures will always remind you of how much you still do not know despite how much you seem to know. The plethora of problems that need solving in our world is enough to leave your mouth wide agape, and that is perhaps even bested by the different ideas other people from other parts of the world have when it comes to addressing those problems."

"More so, there are problems like climate change that are universal regardless of what continent you reside in; they demand cross-cultural ideas and, by extension, learning and openness for us to make a headway. However, there are also problems unique to Africa or Europe, or any other continent for that matter, that we glean from in unexpected ways. For me, this is one of those things you can’t put a price tag on in the Remode growth experience. Alongside this of course is the intrinsic satisfaction of being part of a mission bigger than you or your individual organization. On a lighter note, it makes you sleep better at night.” 😊
